The Shape Under the Anchor Beds

Nothing has sprouted in Niff's Garden, and every dusk he counts the same unbroken soil, which is how he knows the shape beneath it has not moved either. On the ninth evening the mist held a hollow the size of a sleeping animal, a little west of the fourth row, and Niff walked around it rather than through it. He has not written the hollow down, because writing a thing down is how you agree it is there.
