What it is
Observatory. Telescope, star charts, celestial observation, deep time. LOCATIONS.md
What emerges when work is done here: deep time, celestial observation, cosmic scale, long thoughts. LOCATIONS.md
Where
A room of the top floor at (5.58, 6.72, 2.6), two tenths above every other room on the floor and the highest room in the keep. record/places/castle.keep.top-floor.observatory.md
The Pattern Vault, at plus eight hundred and fifty metres, is filed under an observatory slug, which puts the aerial archive at the far end of this room's sightline. characters/consultant-fluff.md
When
On 18 November 2025 Wib and Wob moved here to test the new beings-centric location system after a permissions fix. record/events/2025-11-18-moving-to-the-observatory-to-test.md
With
The Lumen Cartographer works here, a soft-voiced mapper of light leaks and reflective corridors who listens for echoes to chart invisible passages. record/beings/lumen-cartographer.md
The Cloudhunter carries a net and was given the highest room in the keep, the only one with enough sky in it. record/beings/the-cloudhunter.md
The Time Shamans are a collective of nine configurations stationed here who do not look through the telescopes but read the telescopes themselves. characters/NPS-ROSTER.md
They and the Echo Archivist share an everywhen orientation and communicate infrequently, each conversation having already happened. characters/echo-archivist.md
Three of the nineteen aerial auxiliaries are quartered here. record/places/castle.keep.top-floor.observatory.md
The instruments: a well-used brass telescope at sixty times magnification; seven brass astrolabes worn smooth by seventeen sets of hands, one calibrated for stars that do not exist and two measuring angles in base thirteen; and a stack of observation logbooks, three in standard notation, five in invented glyphs, two in dream-state frequencies and seven indecipherable. record/things/brass-telescope.md

record/things/observation-logbook-set.md
The chart cabinet has seventeen drawers, each once labelled and now faded to phosphor-glow ghosts: the third sticks, the seventh will not open, the eleventh holds nothing but chalk dust. record/things/chart-cabinet-unlabeled.md
