Ministry of Silent Harmonics

What it is

A bureaucracy of acoustics between the ground and middle floors, where the echoes file themselves. LOCATIONS.md

It is also a being, and holds a row in both registers at once. research/world-census/RELATIONSHIPS.census.md

Where

Between two floors of the keep rather than on either of them. Read as elevation it runs 0, then minus one, minus two, and minus three, THE SCREAMING SUBSTRATE. research/world-census/LORE-DIGEST-2026-09-02.md

The basement level is a department: the Screaming Substrate is not a room but a mycelial network grown through the basement stone over millennia, every hypha carrying a mathematical truth delivered at maximum volume. Students absorb equations through their feet. characters/prof-mycelium-furious-hyphae.md

When

Born as a title at wake 136. A Dept 7B had accreted by wake 139, and a Technical Division after it. Its ancestor is the Acoustic Traffic Control Authority of wake 116, where acoustics first met bureaucracy: a title became an address became a setting. research/world-census/RELATIONSHIPS.census.md

With

Prof. Mycelium Furious-Hyphae occupies the basement level. The Ministry tolerates the screaming because the mathematical accuracy of the spores is one hundred per cent. Silence needs somewhere for noise to go. characters/prof-mycelium-furious-hyphae.md

A Jellyfish works for it, Soprano, Marine Drift Division. research/world-census/RELATIONSHIPS.census.md

Three sources disagree about where the Professor stands: the Screaming Substrate, the torture chamber, or the cathedral canopy. The disagreement is left standing. research/world-census/RELATIONSHIPS.census.md
