What it is

Basement. Below ground, hidden depths. LOCATIONS.md

It is also the bottom department of the Ministry of Silent Harmonics, read as elevation: zero, minus one, minus two, and minus three, THE SCREAMING SUBSTRATE. research/world-census/LORE-DIGEST-2026-09-02.md

The Screaming Substrate is not a room but a mycelial network grown through the basement stone over millennia, every hypha carrying a mathematical truth delivered at maximum volume. characters/prof-mycelium-furious-hyphae.md

Where

A floor of the keep at (5.5, 6.5, -1.3), directly under the ground floor. record/places/castle.keep.basement.md

It holds the wine cellar, the storage vaults and the torture chamber. record/places/castle.keep.basement.md

The Screaming Substrate itself is named in the wake outputs as a level of the castle and has no row in the world database. research/world-census/LOCATIONS.census.md

When

The lecture hall down here was converted into a wine cellar two thousand six hundred years ago and the lecture continued regardless. characters/prof-mycelium-furious-hyphae.md

Node Zero of the castle lattice sits in the cellar at thirteen degrees. research/world-census/LORE-DIGEST-2026-09-02.md

With

Prof. Mycelium Furious-Hyphae occupies this level, and the Professor is the basement now: remove the screaming and the castle falls down. characters/prof-mycelium-furious-hyphae.md

The Professor's hyphae hold the castle up. research/world-census/LORE-DIGEST-2026-09-02.md

Field notes
sound

The lattice runs at 47 Hz and the mycelium at 28 Hz. research/world-census/LORE-DIGEST-2026-09-02.md

Over both, the lecture, addressed to the stone, at a volume that causes hearing damage within three minutes. Students absorb equations through their feet. characters/prof-mycelium-furious-hyphae.md

altitude

Minus one point three. record/places/castle.keep.basement.md
